Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team posted a comeback win over Farmingdale State College today on the road, 18-9. The Roadrunners improve to 2-1 overall while the Rams fall to 1-2 on the year.
Ramapo took a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning as
Sean Donaghue and
Matt Lalomia each knocked in an RBI before Donaghue later scored on a Ram error. In the bottom of the inning Farmingdale's C McGuggart belted a two-run home run to get the Rams on the board before Ramapo added one more run in the top of the third. Lalomia smacked a double down the right field line to plate
Brian Baranok for a 4-2 lead. The Rams would score seven runs over the next three innings to take a 9-4 lead after five complete innings. Ramapo broke out in the seventh as they scored nine runs on six hits to take a 13-9 lead. The inning was highlighted by a triple from
Tyler Guadagno which plated two runs. The Roadrunners added five more runs in the top of the eighth. Lalomia scored on a wild pitch before Dominic Ciani knocked in
TJ Roman with an RBI fielder's choice.
Jason Cuba knocked home two RBI before he later scored on a sac fly from Guadagno, 18-9.
Will Kennedy (1-0) earned the win in relief as he struck out four and let up just one hit in three innings of work.
Will Paoli pitched the ninth and recorded three strikeouts. Ramapo recorded 14 hits in the game including four extra base hits. Cuba led the way finishing 4-6 at the plate with three runs scored, three RBI and three stolen bases. Baranok and Lalomia each recorded two hits in the game while Guadagno drove home three RBI.
The Roadrunners return to action on Sunday, March 12th in Auburndale, FL at the RussMatt Tournament as they take on Westminster College (PA) at 10:00 AM.
