Auburndale, FL: The Ramapo College baseball team extended their win streak to five games with a 2-1 win over Roger Williams University tonight. The Roadrunners move to 6-1 overall while the Hawks now stand at 1-4 overall.
It was 1-0 Roger Williams early in the top of the first until Ramapo got on the board with one run in the sixth to tie the game and one in the seventh to take a 2-1 lead. In the sixth,
Jason Cuba led off with a single and scored when an infield throwing error allowed him to cross home plate with the game-tying run. In the seventh,
Justin Garthaffner led off with a double to right field before advancing to third on a failed pickoff attempt.
Matt Carovillano then laced a single through the left side of the infield to drive home Garthaffner for the one run lead, 2-1.
Will Paoli came in for relief of
Dominick Ciani to start the eight to earn a six out save. Paoli held the Hawks in the final two innings with five strikeouts and letting up just one hit. Ciani earned the win in relief as he let up just one hit in 5.1 innings of work with two strikeouts.
Brian Baranok led the team at the plate finishing 2-3 while four other Roadrunners collected one hit in the game.
Ramapo will return to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Anderson University (IN) at 1:30pm.
