RAMAPO SWEEPS CURRY IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION

Auburndale, FL:  The Ramapo College baseball team won a pair of games over Curry College in a non-conference doubleheader today at the RussMatt Invitational. The Roadrunners move to 5-1 overall while the Colonels drop to 1-6 overall.
 
Game 1
Ramapo scored two runs in the third as Matt Lalomia laced a single down the left field line to plate Tyler Guadagno and Brian Baranok, 2-0. Curry scored one run in the fourth before Ramapo added seven runs in the fourth highlighted by a bases loaded triple from Lalomia to go up 8-1. Lalomia later scored on a wild pitch, 9-1, before Curry scored three runs in the seventh to cut the Roadrunner lead, 9-4. Ramapo induced a ground out to end the inning to preserve the 9-4 win.
 
Lalomia led the way as he finished 3-4 with five RBI and one run scored while Jason Cuba finished 2-4 with one run scored and one RBI. Five other Roadrunners each collected one hit in the game.
 
Jack Martin (1-0) earned his first win of the season on the mound as he struck out four, walked two and let up just one hit over five innings of work. Billy Scanlon worked the sixth and did not give up a hit while Sebastian Sphan started the seventh and got the first two outs before Matt Ivanicki got the final out of the inning via a groundout.
 
Game 2
After two innings of play the Roadrunners saw themselves down 3-0 to Curry before they got on the board in the third inning. Lalomia and Dominick Ciani each collected RBI singles to plate Guadagno and Baranok respectively. In the fourth, the Roadrunners took a one run lead when Baranok belted a double in the left-center field gap to plate Jesse Swartout and Cuba, 4-3. Curry tied the game with a run in the fifth before Baranok worked a bases loaded walk in the sixth to force home TJ Roman, 5-4. Christian Alonso then belted a grand slam to take a 9-4 lead. In the seventh, Cuba scored on a pass ball before Lalomia tripled to left field to plate Baranok, 11-4.
 
Cuba and Baranok each finished 3-4 with three runs scored while Baranok recorded three RBI. Alonso drove in four RBI while Lalomia, Ciani and Roman each collected two hits each. Troy Karaty (1-0) earned the win in relief for the Roadrunners as he struck out one and scattered three hits in 1.2 innings of work.
 
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow night when they take on Roger Williams University at 5pm.
