NJAC SOFTBALL PRESEASON POLL ANNOUNED

Mahwah, NJ:  The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced the 2023 NJAC Softball Preseason Poll this morning which slated Ramapo College to finish fourth by the league's ten coaches.

Head Coach Bridgette Quimpo, who enters her 10th year at the helm of the Roadrunners, looks to lead the 2023 Ramapo squad back to the NJAC Tournament for the 8th time under her direction. Quimpo will look for some key returners along with a talented group of newcomers to help lead the program this season. Ramapo posted a 25-10 overall record and 14-4 in the NJAC last season to earn the #3 seed in the NJAC Tournament. The 2022 season was the fourth time the Roadrunners earned at least 25 wins in a season under Coach Quimpo and the 19th time in program history.

Five key returners earned NJAC All-Conference honors last season. Jaclyn Monaco, Mahogany Wheeler and Katie Rygiel all earned First Team All-Conference while Alexis Corra and Marissa DiPaolo were named Second Team All-Conference. Monaco, who also earned NFCA All-Region, posted a .429 batting average last season with 39 hits including two doubles while she also posted a team high 30 runs scored. She collected 29 RBI and 23 runs scored while earning ten wins in the circle for the Roadrunners. Wheeler made 18 appearances on the mound with 17 starts and 13 complete games where she recorded a 2.77 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 103.2 innings pitched. Rygiel also earned NFCA All-Region and All-ECAC honors in her first season as a Roadrunner. She led the team with 50 hits including ten doubles and one home run. Rygiel posted 32 RBI and 20 runs scored along with a team leading .431 batting average. Corra posted a .404 batting average along with 46 hits including nine doubles, a team leading three triples and four home runs. Corra drove in 39 RBI and scored a team high 34 runs. DiPaolo, who also earned NFCA All-Region, led the team in the circle with 99 strikeouts over 101 innings pitched while she boasted a 1.94 ERA and a 12-3 win-loss record. She made 17 appearances on the mound along with 16 starts and 14 complete games. Coach Quimpo will look to newcomers Avery Kontura and Hannah Hensler to make an immediate impact on the program.

"I'm excited for our returners who learned so much from last season and with the addition of our talented newcomers; will make us very strong and highly competitive this season. I'm excited to see the continued growth in every one of our players individually and as a team, along with knowing we have the opportunities to do something special this year," Coach Quimpo's early outlook on the 2023 season.

The Roadrunners open the 2023 season on the road against John Jay College on March 7th before traveling to Florida for THE Spring Games where they will have a 12-game schedule. Ramapo will go up against two opponents ranked in the NFCA Top 25 preseason poll in #20 Babson College on March 11th and #11 Case Western Reserve on March 12th. The Roadrunners return home to play two non-conference double headers before opening the NJAC portion of their schedule at home against Stockton University on April 1st.
