RAMAPO MEN'S BASKETBALL DOWNS ROWAN IN OVERTIME

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated NJAC rival Rowan University in overtime this afternoon, 110-106. The Roadrunners move to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the NJAC while the Profs drop to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
 
Rowan took a four point lead into halftime before they opened up a 14 point lead in the second half with just 6:28 left to play in the game. Peter Gorman then led Ramapo to a victorious comeback as he started a 21-7 run that ended with a game-tying three-pointer. Gorman connected on five three-pointers during the run including the three-pointer with seconds remaining to send the game into overtime, 93-93. In the final 5:41 of the second half, Gorman tallied 15 points while Justin Bladen, Jordan Myers and Shane Rooney all contributed with two points each.
 
Ramapo started the scoring in the overtime period with Gorman netting the first bucket before Rowan's Jamier Spivey converted on an and-one play to take a one point lead, 96-95. The scored was tied three times in the overtime period the final time being 103-103 with a jumper from Noel Ja'Zere with 1:22 on the clock. Myers then bad back-to-back baskets including an and-one play for a 108-105 lead with just 19 seconds remaining. Ja'Zere sank a three-pointer for the Profs while Justin Bladen scored the final points of the game for either team as Ramapo earned a 110-106 win.
 
All five starters for the Roadrunners scored in double figures in the game as Gorman led the way with 28 points as he finished 10-13 from the field, 6-7 from the three-point line and 2-2 from the free throw line. Myers tied a career high of 23 points while he added eight points. Anthony Corbo added a season high 20 points while he connected on two three-pointers and led the way with nine rebound s and eight assists. Justin Bladen added 17 points and eight assists while Rooney posted 16 points and seven rebounds. The Roadrunners shot 57% (40-70) from the field, 66% (10-15) from the three-point line and 87% (20-23) from the free throw line. Ramapo recorded 56 points in the paint and 34 points off Rowan turnovers. The score was tied seven times in the game and the two teams saw nine lead changes.
 
Ja'Zere led Rowan with a career high 37 points as he connected on five three-pointers while Ross added 30 points including nine made three-pointers. Josh Wright also contributed with ten points while Spivey collected eight rebounds to lead the team. The Profs shot 52% (37-70) from the field, 61% (16-26) from the three-point line and 88% (16-18) from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners host Montclair State University (6-2/4-1 NJAC) on Wednesday, December 13th in a 7:30pm NJAC conference game.
