RAMAPO PULLS AWAY FOR AN 84-72 WIN OVER MONTCLAIR STATE

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team won their third straight game with a NJAC conference win over visiting Montclair State University tonight, 84-72. The Roadrunners improve to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks drop to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the league.
 
Peter Gorman recorded his 10th straight game scoring in double figures including his fifth straight with more than 20 points. Gorman finished with 26 points, three rebounds and three assists. Jordan Myers matched a career high of 23 points while Justin Bladen and Shane Rooney each collected ten points. Anthony Corbo recorded 11 rebounds to lead the team while Rooney led the way with nine. Ramapo shot 56% (30-53) from the floor, 50% (6-12) from the three-point line and 75% (18-24) from the free throw line. Ramapo scored 38 points in the paint while they collected 19 points off of MSU turnovers.
 
The two teams traded baskets to open the game before a three-pointer from Mike Jackson sank a three-pointer for the Red Hawks for a 5-2 lead. Myers added a jumper and Bladen sank a three-pointer as Ramapo posted a 7-5 lead before a three-pointer from Kunga Tsering gave MSU back a one-point lead, 8-7. Myers then took a pass from Bladen for a jumper giving Ramapo the lead, 9-8. With 14:17 on the clock Gorman scored a basket which started a 7-0 run to take a nine point lead. Later in the half, Gorman sank a three-pointer to give the Roadrunners their first double digit lead of the game, 27-17 with just over 12 minutes left to play in the first half. MSU would shrink the lead down to three with a three-pointer from Kieran Flannagan before Ramapo stretched the lead back to seven with 5:11 to go. The two teams traded baskets down the stretch as Ramapo took a 43-39 lead into halftime.
 
Montclair State would come back early in the second half taking a one point lead, 50-49 with 17:03 on the clock. Ramapo would respond with a 24-2 run as Gorman sank a three-pointer while the run was capped off with a layup from Rooney for a 73-52 lead. The Roadrunners held at least a ten point lead the remainder of the game as they posted a 12-point victory, 84-72.
 
Flanagan led the Red Hawks with 19 points and four assists while Tsering and Jackson each added 13 points. Jackson and Samar Abdullah each connected on three three-pointers in the game. MSU scored 32 points in the paint while they shot 47% (26-55) from the floor, 34% (10-29) from the three-point line and 71% (10-14) from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to the Florida Sunshine Shootout for two non-conference games. They will take on the College of St. Scholastica on Thursday, December 28th at 6:00 PM and Immaculata University on Friday, December 30th at 4:00 PM.
