MEN'S BASKETBALL COMEBACK CUT SHORT ON THE ROAD AT STOCKTON

Galloway, NJ:  The Stockton University men's basketball team held off a second half comeback from Ramapo College for a 71-66 conference win this afternoon. The Ospreys snap the Roadrunners five game win streak and improve to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC while Ramapo is now 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
 
Three players for Stockton scored in double figures as Martin Anguelov led the way with 19 points, including six three-pointers. Tayvon Gaither posted 16 points and nine rebounds while Jalen Collins added 11 points and five rebounds. DJ Campbell and Rynell Lawrence each contributed with eight points while Campbell was able to pull down nine rebounds. The Ospreys shot 42% (27-63) from the field, 34% (9-26) from the three-point line and 53% (8-15) from the free throw line. Stockton scored 28 points in the paint and 14 points off Ramapo turnovers in the game. 

Four Roadrunners scored in double figures in the game including three starters. Peter Gorman led the way with 20 points as he recorded six mad three-pointers. Jordan Myers posted 11 points and nine rebounds while Justin Bladen tallied ten points and five rebounds. Off the bench, Anees Raheem collected 13 points and two assists. Anthony Corbo contributed with nine points, six rebounds, one block and one steal. Ramapo shot 45% (27-60) from the field, 33% (7-21) from the three-point line and 45% (5-11) from the free throw line. The Roadrunners tallied 30 points in the paint while they posted 13 points off Stockton turnovers. 

Ramapo held a 33-31 lead at halftime before Stockton took the lead in the second half after a four-point play from Campbell. Campbell hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 34 with 19:04 on the clock while he was fouled. He converted his free throw which started a 15-6 run to give Stockton a six point lead, 46-40 with 15:21 on the clock. Ramapo cut the lead to one with just over 13:04 left in the game before the Ospreys went on 14-0 run to push the score, 60-45 with less than nine minutes left in the game. With 6:35 on the clock, Rynell Lawrence sank a three-pointer to give Stockton a 17 point lead, 66-49. The Roadrunners then went on a 17-3 run of their own over the next 6:11 of the game to cut the Stockton lead to just three with 24 seconds on the clock. The run was capped off with a big three-pointer from Bladen, 66-69. Raheem and Bladen each tallied six points in the run while Gorman added three and Myers two. Stockton would convert a pair of free throws in the final seconds to seal the NJAC victory, 71-66.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, December 6th when they host New Jersey City University for a NJAC game at 7:30pm.
