Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team earned two wins today over St. Joseph's University – Long Island and Wilkes University. The Roadrunners moved to 23-1 overall and recorded the best regular season overall record in program history.
Ramapo 3, St. Joseph's -LI, 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-14)
Maliyah LaBrie led the way over the Golden Eagles with 13 kills and eight digs.
Penelope Rivera added eight kills while
Desiree Cruz posted seven kills, four blocks and two digs.
Krystal Santiago Oquendo posted a team high 21 digs while
Alexandra Sacchinelli dished out a team high 21 assists.
Cleopatra Diakou posted 17 assists while
Kalme Moncavo added nine digs on defense. The team hit .380 in the match with 40 kills on 79 attempts and just ten errors.
The Golden Eagles (15-9 overall) were led by Madison Gremli with ten kills and seven digs while Katie D'Angelo dished out a team high 16 assists while she added seven digs and three aces. The team collected 19 kills on 86 attempts and 14 errors.
Ramapo 3, Wilkes 1, 3-1 (25-14, 22-25, 25-7, 25-20)
After taking the first set Ramapo dropped set two forcing the Roadrunners to win the next two sets to take the match. Three Ramapo players scored in double figures as Cruz led the way with 14 kills on 17 attempts with zero errors to hit .824 in the match. Cruz also posted three solo blocks and one assisted block along with three digs. Rivera and LaBrie each collected 12 kills while LaBrie added five digs, one ace and one block. Rivera added two blocks and four digs. Diakou posted a team high 29 assists while Sacchinelli added 15 of her own. On defense, Santiago posted a team high 26 digs while Moncavo added 12. The team recorded 57 kills on 115 attempts with just 14 errors to hit .374 in the match.
For Wilkes (10-20 overall), Hope Ousey led the way with six kills while Nicole Fitzpatrick and Sara Hines each added five kills. Alexa Cassel collected a team high 22 assists while Ali Yordy posted a team high 11 digs. The team recorded 26 total kills on 111 attempts with 18 errors.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, November 9th when they host the NJAC Semifinals at 7:00 PM at the Bradley Center. #2 Ramapo will take on the winner of #3 Kean University & #6 Montclair State University. Admission for all NJAC Tournament sites are: $10.00 for adults; $5.00 for children, students, and senior citizens.
