Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team posted a 160-99 non-conference victory over Susquehanna University this afternoon. The Roadrunners open the season at 1-0 overall while the River Hawks move to 0-2 on the year.
Jack Hill, competing in his first collegiate meet of his career, set two new program marks to help lead Ramapo to victory. He posted times of 1:53.05 in the 200-yard backstroke (first place) and the 200-yard IM (first place) in 1:55.67. Hill won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:42.12 while
Thomas Breen placed second in 1:53.76. Hill also led the 200-yard medley relay team to a first place showing with a combined time of 1:36.76. The team was made up of Hill,
Tyler Moore,
Benjamin Gomez and
Joe Swede. In the 100-yard backstroke,
Brendan McDevitt clocked in at 59.69 for a second place finish while Ramapo went 1-2 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Samuel De Leon and Moore posted times of 1:01.66 and 1:02.43 respectively. In the 200-yard butterfly,
Giovanni Alvarez placed second (2:11.83) and
Caleb Baron placed third (2:14.41) while
AJ Guevara finished fourth (2:18.04). Swede grabbed a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.14 seconds and Breen placed third in 23.60 seconds. Gomez won the 100-yard butterfly (54.73 seconds) while the 200-yard freestyle relay team also placed first with a combined time of 1:31.06. The team was made up of Swede, McDevitt, Moore and Gomez.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, November 11th when they host the College of New Jersey at 2pm.
