Union, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team extended their win streak to five games with a 77-62 road win over Kean University tonight in NJAC action. The Roadrunners move to 6-1 overall and remain undefeated in the NJAC at 3-0 while the Cougars now stand at 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Ramapo opened the game with a layup from
Jordan Myers before Kean's Brandon Upshaw made a basket to tie the game at two. The Roadrunners then took a 10-5 lead after going on an 8-3 run, capped off with a pair of free throws from Myers. A 7-2 run from Kean gave them a 14-13 lead with 13:22 on the clock before Ramapo took the lead on a pair of free throws from
Peter Gorman. Gorman sank another set of free throws to give the Roadrunners a 17-14. Late in the first half, Kean cut the lead to two before Ramapo went on a 12-3 run to end the first half with a 41-40 lead. Gorman collected eight points during the run while Myers posted two and
Elijah Barlow added two.
In the second half, Ramapo pushed the lead to 19 with 7:41 on the clock on a jumper from Barlow, 67-48. Kean would go on an 8-0 run capped off with a layup from Steph Flores, cutting the lead tot 67-56 with just over six minutes left in the game. Ramapo ended the game on a 10-6 run to hold onto the NJAC road victory.
Gorman scored a game high 30 points for the Roadrunners including finishing 11-12 from the free throw line and 9-13 from the floor while he also grabbed five assists, three rebounds and one steal. Myers tallied a season high 18 points as he finished 8-10 from the free throw line while grabbing seven rebounds.
Shane Rooney contributed with eight points and three rebounds while
Anthony Corbo recorded seven points and five rebounds. Ramapo shot 50% (25-50) from the floor, 50% (4-8) from the three-point line and 88% (23-26) from the free throw line.
For the Cougars, Phil Brown, Jr. led the way with 12 points while Tyler Spencer collected a team high ten rebounds. JD Daniels and D.J. Alicea each recorded nine points while Spencer added seven. The team shot 41% (24-58) from the field, 13% (2-15) from the three-point line and 60% (12-20) from the free throw line.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, December 2nd when they travel to Stockton University for a 1:00 PM NJAC game.
