Dallas, PA: The Ramapo College men's swim placed 3rd overall at the Cougar Splash hosted by Misericordia University at the Dallas High School Aquatic Center. The Roadrunners recorded 404 points in the two-day meet.
The Roadrunners set seven program records including four individual marks from rookie
Jack Hill. Hill set the program record in the 50-yard freestyle (20.90 seconds), 100-yard backstroke (49.36 seconds/NCAA B-Cut time), 200-yard freestyle (1:39.37/NCAA B-Cut time), 100-yard freestyle (44.7 seconds. NCAA B-Cut time).
The 200-yard freestyle relay team placed 2nd overall with a combined time of 1:25.52. The team was made up of Hill,
Benjamin Gomez,
Joe Swede and
Tyler Moore. In the 200-yard IM,
Samuel De Leon placed 4th overall in 2:02.88 while
Caleb Baron finished in 9th in 2:05.84. In the 50-yard freestyle, Hill won the event with his new program mark while Gomez finished 3rd (21.50 seconds) and Swede finished 4th in 21.56 seconds.
The 400-yard medley relay set a new program mark with a time of 3:27.65. The team was made up of Hill, De Leon, Gomez and Swede. The 200-yard medley relay also set a new program record with a combined time of 1:34.24 as they placed 2nd overall. The team was made up of Hill, Moore, Gomez and Swede. In the 100-yard butterfly, Gomez grabbed a 2nd place finish when he touched the wall in 52.02 seconds while Hill won the 200-yard freestyle with his new program record of 1:39.37.
Thomas Breen finished 5th in the same event in 1:50.24. De Leon posted a time of 58.62 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke for a 2nd place finish while Swede was 6th (1:00.83) and Moore was 8th in 1:01.50.
Brendan McDevitt clocked in at 58.40 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke for a 7th place finish while he placed 5th in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:02.54. Hill also won the 100-yard freestyle (45.31 seconds) while Swede was 3rd (47.48 seconds) and Gomez was 5th (47.85 seconds).
Giovanni Alvarez clocked in at 2:06.57 in the 200-yard butterfly for a 6th place finish. To wrap up the meet the Roadrunners won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a combined time of 3:07.85 which is also a new program record. The team was made up of Hill, Swede, Breen and Gomez.
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, December 8th at Montclair State University where they will take on the host Red Hawks and Rowan University at 4:00 PM.
