Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team earned a 7-0 victory over the City College of New York tonight at the Athletic Center Turf Field. The Roadrunners move to 4-6-2 overall while the Beavers now stand at 1-7-1 on the year.
Ramapo got on the board in the 8th minute with a goal from
Jack Hosmer, his second of the year as
Ederson La Torre assisted. Ramapo was awarded a penalty kick in the 32nd minute as
Michael Morelli converted for his first goal of the season for a 2-0 score.
Mohit Nigam tallied his first goal of the year with an assist from
Lucas Mielnikiewicz to end the first half (44:41) to push the score to 3-0.
Morelli added his second goal of the game in the 58th minute of the second half off an assist from
Nick Ramirez before
Leith Matari tallied his third goal of the year in the 80th minute.
Andreas Novak assisted to extend the lead, 5-0.
Jun Choi took a pass from
Alex Zargo off a free kick in the 82nd minute to score his first of the year while Mielnikiewicz tallied a goal to wrap up the Roadrunner scoring, 7-0. Matari assisted on the final goal for Ramapo.
The Roadrunners recorded 17 shots on goal while the Beavers did not get a shot off in the game. Ramapo collected 11 corner kicks while CCNY tallied one.
Gabriel Espada earned the shutout victory tonight without having to make a save for Ramapo. For CCNY, Emerson Ayala recorded ten saves in the game.
Ramapo returns to action on the road on Wednesday, October 11th when they travel to Kean University for a NJAC game at 7:00pm.
