Union, NJ: The #14 ranked Kean University men's soccer team earned a 2-1 NJAC victory over Ramapo College tonight at Kean Alumni Stadium. The Cougars improve to 9-0-4 overall and 4-0-1 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-7-2 overall and 1-4 in the NJAC.
The Cougars were awarded a penalty kick in the 46th minute of the second half as Ivan Garcia converted to put Kean on the board, 1-0. Donte East would put the team up 2-0 in the 64th minute off a pass from Alejandro Venereo. Ramapo would cut the lead in half just a few minutes (67th minute) later when
Kyle Allen took a short pass from
Ederson La Torre and hit the back of the net. Kean would keep the Roadrunners off the board the remainder of the game to earn the NJAC victory.
Ramapo held a 17-14 advantage in shots in the game including 10-7 of shots on goal while each team earned four corner kicks.
Gabriel Espada recorded five saves in goal for the Roadrunners while Dominic Ridge tallied nine saves for the Cougars.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 14th when they host NJAC rival Rowan University at the Athletic Center Turf Field at 1:00pm.
