New Paltz, NY: The New Paltz field hockey team opened the 2022 season with a 1-0 win over Ramapo College today at North Turf Field.
The Hawks broke through a scoreless game in the final seven minutes of action with a goal from Miranda Britton (53:22), while Amanda Quenneville assisted on the game-winner. The two teams played an evenly matched game with each posting 13 shots while Ramapo recorded seven on goal to the Hawks' five. The Roadrunners recorded four shots in each of the second and third quarters but could not find the back of the net. New Paltz posted 12 penalty corners to Ramapo's nine while the Roadrunners were awarded four penalty corners in the final quarter of play.
Michelle Kukan recorded three saves for Ramapo while Davin Testo tallied five saves for the Hawks.
The Roadrunners return to Mahwah on Saturday afternoon when they host Lasell University at the Athletic Center Turf field at 3pm.
