Union, NJ: The #4 seeded Kean University baseball team defeated #6 seeded Ramapo College today, 5-4, to advance in the NJAC Baseball Tournament. The Cougars move to 30-12 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 16-23-1 overall.
Ramapo scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning when
Tyler Guadagno laced an RBI single to right-center field plating
Christian Alonso, 1-0. Kean would come back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-1 lead. In the third inning, Kean added one run before Ramapo came back with two of their own.
Matt Carovillano ripped a double down the right field line that plated
Sean Donaghue before
Joe Wisniewski poked an RBI single to left field which allowed Carovillano to score, 3-4. The Roadrunners would tie the game, 4-4, in the top of the eighth inning with a solo home run off the bat of Donaghue, his sixth home run of the season.
Kean would score the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI sac fly from Christian Pellone as the Cougars came away with a 5-4 victory. Kean advances to play in game eight of the tournament tomorrow at 3:30pm against TCNJ.
Ramapo will now play in a must win game seven tomorrow afternoon at 12:00pm against the loser of William Paterson University and Montclair State University.
