Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team won a key NJAC game over Rutgers-Newark University, 4-2, this afternoon at Jeff Maun Field. The Roadrunners improve to 12-17-1 overall, 4-7 in the NJAC while the Scarlet Raiders now stand at 12-15 overall and 2-9 in the conference.

The Roadrunners scored three runs in the second and one in the fourth before the Scarlet Raiders cut Ramapo's lead in half with two runs in the top of the eighth. In the second inning,
Sean Donaghue led off the inning with a double down the left field line before
Matt Carovillano was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second with no outs.
Harold Calero put down a sac bunt to move them up one base before
Christian Alonso laced a double down the right field line, plating both runs for a 2-0 lead.
Brian Baranok then laced an RBI double to left field which allowed Alonso to score, 3-0. In the fourth inning, Alonso tripled to right field with one out before Guadagno plated him with a sac fly to center field to extend the lead, 4-0.

Suleski put Rutgers-Newark on the board in the eighth inning with a two-RBI double to cut the Roadrunner lead in half with two outs.
Will Paoli then came into the game for Ramapo on the mound, and got the Roadrunners out of a second and third jam. Paoli induced a strikeout to end the inning. Paoli would earn his third save of the season as he worked the ninth inning and held the Scarlet Raiders scoreless as Ramapo held on for the 4-2 victory.

Dominick Ciani (1-2) struck out six and fired a two-hitter in seven complete innings of work for Ramapo on the mound. Alonso led the Roadrunners at the plate this afternoon with a 3-5 day as he drove in two RBI and two runs scored.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow afternoon at Rutgers-Newark University to complete the home-and-home series. The NJAC conference game is slated to begin at 3:30pm.
