ROADRUNNERS SPLIT WITH OSPREYS IN NJAC BASEBALL ACTION

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team opened the NJAC season with a split against Stockton University. The Roadrunners (8-9, 1-1 NJAC) took game one, 6-1, while the Ospreys (10-9-1, 1-1 NJAC) won game two, 9-2.
 
Game One
Ramapo starting pitcher Nick Danbrowney (2-2) worked into the ninth inning as he earned his second win of the season. He scattered four hits in the game while he struck out two and surrendered just one run. Will Paoli earned his second save of the year with two strikeouts and a fly out to close out the game.
 
Stockton took a 1-0 lead in the second inning before Ramapo put three runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, Justin Garthaffner singled home Brian Baranok to tie the game 1-1, before Matt Carovillano laced an RBI double which allowed Garthaffner to score. Harold Calero then singled home Carovillano for the 3-1 score. They added two runs in the sixth as Garthaffner hit a two-run home run to extend the score, 5-1. In the eighth, Calero posted a sac fly to center field pushing the score to 6-1.
 
Carovillano finished 3-4 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI while Garthaffner finished 2-3 with three runs scored and three RBI.
 
Game Two
Stockton would put up five runs in the top of the first inning for a quick lead. Ramapo got on the board in the second inning when Carvovillano drilled a two-out two-run home run which also scored Matt Lalomia, 2-5. The Ospreys added three runs in the seventh on two hits for an 8-2 lead before they added one run in the eighth to extend the lead 9-2.
 
Mike Schiattarella (4-1) worked eight innings on the mound for the Ospreys with 11 strikeouts and just one walk as he let up seven hits and two runs. Phil Santa Maria pitched the ninth as he let up two hits.
 
Troy Karaty took the loss on the mound for the Roadrunners as he struck out one and let up five hits and five runs. Dominick Ciani, Tyler Guadagno, Carvillano and TJ Roman each collected two hits in the game for Ramapo.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Monday, April 4th when they travel to Manhattanville College for a non-conference game at 3:30pm.
