Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team dropped a tough NJAC match-up today to Rowan University, 2-20 at the Athletic Center. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 1-9 overall on the year and 0-3 in the conference. Rowan gets their first conference win and stands at 1-1 and 5-7 overall.
Just over one minute into the game, Jamie Cutrera took a pass from Kassie Costalas to get the Profs on the board before Ashley Lechliter scored one of her own just 32 seconds later to give Rowan a 2-0 advantage. Elisa Cohan, off an assist from Lechliter, would score what turned out to be the game winner with 12:44 to play. The goal was her 24
th of the season.
With Ramapo trailing 0-17,
Kelly Griffin got the Roadrunners on the board to break the shutout scoring her 19
th goal of the year. And with 10:37 to play in the game, Griffin struck again to close the gap, 2-17. It wasn't enough as the Profs proved to be too much defeating Ramapo 20-2.
Reilly Shaup made seven saves in the net for Rowan while
Alyssa Curto made five for Ramapo. Rowan out shot Ramapo 32-11 in the game while they picked up 12 ground balls to Ramapo's four.
The Roadrunners return to action on April 19
th at Montclair State for a 7pm start.
