RAMAPO SPLITS WITH #7 ROWAN IN NJAC BASEBALL ACTION

Glassboro, NJ:  The Ramapo College baseball team splits a key NJAC doubleheader on the road at #7 ranked Rowan University. The Roadrunners now stand at 11-16-1 overall, 3-7 in the NJAC while the Profs move to 21-6 overall and 7-2 in the conference.
 
Game One
The Profs scored one in the fifth before Ramapo took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 8th when Brian Baranok connected on a two-run home run. Dominick Ciani singled before Baranok took the first pitch he saw over the fence for his 4th home run of the season. Rowan recorded two RBI singles in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead.  
 
Ramapo got a pinch-hit single to lead off the top of the 9th from Nick Danbrowney before he was lifted for a pinch-runner. The Profs were able to get out of the jam by turning a 6-4-3 double play and a pop fly would end the game.
 
Ramapo starting pitcher James Garthaffner took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before letting up a leadoff single to the Profs. Ja. Garthaffner struck out nine and scattered just two hits in seven complete innings of work. Will Paoli (1-3) took the tough loss in relief. He struck out two and let up three hits and two runs.
 
Game Two
Ramapo recorded 15 hits in the 14-7 victory while five different Roadrunners belted out a home run in the game. They took a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Sean Donaghue hit a grand slam which plated Ciani, Ju. Garthaffner and Matt Lalomia. Tyler Guadagno walked in the second inning and later scored on a wild pitch for a 5-0 lead before Lalomia hit a solo home run in the third inning to extend the lead, 6-0.
 
Rowan posted one run in the third before Ramapo added three more in the fifth. Matt Carovillano connected on his team leading 7th home run of the season, a two-run shot down the right field line as Donaghue scored. Baranok lifted a sac fly which plated Joe Wisniewski for the 9-0 lead. Wisniewski put Ramapo up 11-0 in the 6th inning with a two-run home run while Christian Alonso also recorded a two-run home run as the Roadrunner led 13-0. Rowan added two runs in the seventh before Ramapo added their final run of the game in the top of the ninth. Donaghue singled home Baranok with a hard hit to left field, 14-3 before Rowan tacked on four runs in the bottom of the inning. Ramapo would shut the door on the Profs for the 14-7 win.
 
Danbrowney (3-3) earned the win for Ramapo on the mound. He worked seven complete innings with four strikeouts while he let up ten hits and three runs (two earned). Donaghue led the team at the plate as he finished 4-6 with five RBI and three runs scored.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on April 19th when they travel to Farmingdale State College for a non-conference game at 5pm.
