Union, NJ: The Kean University baseball team held off a late game comeback by Ramapo College as the Cougars won, 15-12. The Roadrunners move to 10-14-1, 2-5 in the NJAC overall while Kean stands at 23-6 overall, 5-1 in the conference.

Kean jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning before Ramapo put two runs on the board in the top of the third.
Tyler Guadagno led off the inning with a walk before he later scored on a wild pitch, 1-5.
Justin Garthaffner then recorded a sac fly which allowed
Christian Alonso to score, 2-5. The Cougars added three runs for an 8-2 lead before Ramapo got two back in the fourth inning. Guadagno belted his second home run of the season, a two-run shot over the left field fence, 4-8. Kean once again added three runs in the bottom of the fourth for a 11-4 lead before Ramapo got them back in the top of the fifth with three of their own.

Dominick Ciani led off the fifth with a walk, moved to second on a pass ball and later scored on
Brian Baranok's RBI single. Baranok later scored on a Kean error before
Sean Donaghue laced an RBI single to left field to plate Garthaffner, 7-11. With no outs and the bases loaded for the Cougars, Michael Lapczynski was hit by a pitch to force home Kyle Adorno, 12-7 before a second run scored on a balk, 13-7. Kean added one in the bottom of the sixth before Ramapo scored two in the seventh on a two-run home run from
Matt Carovillano, 9-14. The Cougars posted one in the eighth  while Ramapo came back with three in the top of the ninths. The Roadrunners hit back-to-back home runs as Carovillano once again connected on a two-run home run before
Harold Calero hit a solo shot to come within three, 12-15.

Ramapo recorded 13 hits in the game including four home runs.
Dan Russo (3-1) took the loss on the mound for the Roadrunners. Carovillano led the team with a 3-5 day at the plate with a team high four RBI and two runs scored. Donaghue, Calero and Guadagno each posted two hits each in the game. Â

Ramapo and Kean return to action tomorrow afternoon in Mahwah to complete the home-and-home NJAC series. The game is slated to start at 3:30pm.
