New Paltz, NY: The SUNY New Paltz baseball team came from behind to defeat Ramapo College, 5-4, with a run in the bottom of the 11th inning. The Hawks move to 7-12 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 10-13-1 overall.
Ramapo got on the board in the top of the third inning with two runs. With two outs,
Tyler Guadagno launched a two-run home run as
TJ Roman scored for the lead. Roman walked earlier in the inning. New Paltz got one back in the bottom of the third to come within one before they took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh with three runs.
Sean Donaghue led off the top of the ninth inning with a solo home run, his fourth of the season.
Nick Danbrowney laced a double to center field before being lifted for pinch-runner
Aidan Supp.
Christian Alonso then ripped an RBI single to left field which allowed Supp to score to tie the game, 4-4. Neither team scored in regulation, sending the game into extra innings before New Paltz came away with the win in the 11th as Jordan Rios hit a solo home run, 5-4.
Ramapo starting pitcher
Jared Haag worked the first six innings on the mound with three strikeouts and one walk. He scattered six hits and let up just one run.
Garrett Van Alstyne took the tough loss in relief. Donaghue led the way with a 3-4 day at the plate while Alonso collected two hits in the game.
Ramapo returns to action on Thursday, April 14th when they travel to Kean University for a NJAC game at 3:30pm.
