Purchase, NY: The Ramapo College baseball team defeated Manhattanville College, 19-7, today in non-conference action. The Roadrunners improve to 11-10-1 overall while the Valiants now stand at 14-11 overall.
The Roadrunners scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning before they added two in the second for a 13-0 lead.
Justin Garthaffner recorded an RBI single to open the scoring for Ramapo in the first which allowed
TJ Roman to score, 1-0.
Matt Lalomia laced an RBI single before
Joe Wisniewski and Justin Higgins each drew bases loaded walks, 4-0.
Robert Klawans poked an RBI single through the left side of the infield before Alonso drew a bases loaded walk, 6-0. Higgins and Klawans both each scored on a pass ball, 8-0, before Garthaffner posted his 5th home run of the season to extend the lead, 11-0.
In the second inning, Wisniewski connected on his first home run of the season before Roman drove home Higgins with an RBI single, 13-0. In the sixth, Manhattanville put four runs up on the board before the Roadrunners added six runs in the eighth inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Rowan and
Marc Porpora each recorded RBI singles before Jessie Swartout earned an RBI with an infield ground out.
Nick Danbrowney, Wisniewski and Higgins all worked a walk with the bases loaded to force home three more runs for the Roadrunners. The Valiants scored three in the bottom of the eighth pushing the score to 19-7 in favor of Ramapo.
James Garthaffner (2-2) earned the win on the mound for the Roadrunners. He spun a one hitter with nine strikeouts and just one walk. Ramapo collected 12 hits in the game as they were led by Ju. Garthaffner who finished 3-4 with two runs scored and four RBI. Wisniewski also finished 3-4 while he scored three runs and drove in three. Roman and Porpora each posted two hits in the game.
Ramapo returns to action when they travel to New Paltz tomorrow afternoon in a non-conference game at 4:00pm.
