Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team earned a come-from-behind victory today over Western Connecticut State University, 5-2 at Jeff Maund Field on the Mahwah campus. With the victory, the Roadrunners improve to 6-7 overall and WestConn falls under .500 at 4-5.
After falling behind 0-2, with runs from Cameron Bogl and Nicholas Lepere in the top of the 3
rd, Ramapo's
Brian Baranok would double to left field with one out in the 4
th, and later come home on a
Matt Lalomia single to close the gap, 1-2. Baranok would then drive home the tying run in that of
Dominick Ciani in the 6
th, before
Sean Donaghue drove him in to take a 2-1 lead after six innings. The Roadrunners tacked on one more run in the 7
th from
Aidan Supp and another in the 8
th from Baranok to earn the 5-2 victory.
DJ McGuinness started the game and pitched 7.0 innings for Ramapo to get the victory as he struck out five and walked two, letting up four hits.
Matt Ivanicki came in on relief but was hit with a hard line drive ball just three batters in and was forced to leave the game.
Will Paoli took over the duties from the mound and closed out the final 1.1 innings and gets the save. He struck out two and walked none. He let up one hit.
Mason Blanchette pitched 6.1 innings and takes the loss as he let up seven hits, one walk, and four runs.
Baranok led the Roadrunners hitting 3-4 with three runs scored and one RBI. Lalomia went 2-4 with two RBI and Donaghue hit 1-4 with one RBI of his own.
Zach Edwards and Jake Montas each hit 2-4 for WestConn with Edward's driving in one run. Bogli and Lepere each scored one run in the loss.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, March 26
th when they travel to Swarthmore for a double header beginning at noon.
