Davenport, FL: The Ramapo College baseball team used timely hitting to take two wins today at 12-11 over Anderson University (IN) and 4-2 over Ripon University. The Roadrunners now stand at 4-3 overall.
Game One
The Roadrunners saw themselves down 10-0 heading into the bottom of the second inning before they got on the board with one run.
Sean Donaghue ripped an RBI double to center field allowing
Matt Carovillano to come around to score. The Ravens got their final run in the third inning to take an 11-1 lead before Ramapo added two runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Tyler Guadagno recorded a sac fly to center field which allowed
Aidan Supp to score before
Brian Baranok drove home
Christian Alonso with an RBI groundout, 3-11. In the sixth Ramapo added two runs aided by a Raven error and a sac fly from
Justin Garthaffner, 5-11.
Ramapo would tie the game up in the seventh inning scoring six runs.
Harold Calero and Supp each came home on separate wild pitches, 7-11, before Carvillano drilled a three-run home run over the left field fence to come within one, 10-11. Garthaffner then tied the game with a solo homerun of his own, 11-11. In the eighth, Calero drew a walk before being lifted for pinch runner
Jason Cuba. Supp advanced Cuba one base with a sac bunt before Guadagno laced a single to left field allowing Cuba to score the eventual game-winning run, 12-11. Ramapo relief pitcher
Matt Ivanicki and the defense were able to hold the Ravens in the ninth to secure the win.
Ivanicki (1-0) earned the win in relief as he pitched the final two innings for the Roadrunners. He struck out two and let up just one hit. DJ McGuinnes started the game on the mound as he struck out two, walked three and surrendered seven hits in 1.1 innings of work.
Jared Haag kept the Raven offense in check in relief. He fired 5.2 innings while he scattered three hits and let up just one run. On offense, Carovillano and Guadagno each collected two hits in the game while Carovillano posted three RBI and Guadagno added two.
Ramapo will return to action on Thursday, March 17th when they take on #13 Johns Hopkins University at 3:15pm.
