Leesburg, FL: The Ramapo College softball team earned a five-inning shutout win over Oswego State today in the 2022 season opener for both teams.

Ramapo added a run in the third to get on the board for a 1-0 lead when
Marissa DiPaolo ripped an RBI single to center field to plate
Alexis Corra. In the fourth inning,
Jaclyn Monaco reached on a bunt single before later scoring on a misplayed ball in the outfield for a 2-0 score. In the same inning,
Mahogany Wheeler laced a double to the left field fence as
Carli Egan scored making it 3-0 for the Roadrunners. Later in the fourth,
Katie Rygiel knocked home Wheeler and Corra with a hard hit single up the middle before she later scored on a bases loaded walk from Monaco, 6-0. The final run came home on an error in the fourth as DiPaolo scored, pushing the score to 8-0.

Wheeler, who started in the circle for Ramapo, spun a three-hit shutout with four strikeouts and no walks. Rygiel and DiPaolo each collected two hits for the Roadrunners to lead the team at the plate.

Ramapo will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on Nichols College at 4:30pm and SUNY Cortland at 6:45pm. Both games will be held at Hancock Park in Clermont, FL.
