New Brunswick, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team finished in 6th place at the 2022 Metropolitan Collegiate Championships. The Roadrunners recorded 417.5 points at the meet.
The Roadrunners started out the four-day meet on Thursday in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The team clocked in with a time of 7:09.82 and was made up of Joshua Templeton,
Benjamin Gomez,
Spencer Hughes and
Emile Eeckhout.
Eeckhout broke his own school record in the 200-yard IM as he clocked in at 1:56.10. He finished 7th in the B-Final. In the 400-yard IM,
Caleb Baron finished 1st in the C-Final with a time of 4:28.29. In the B-Final of the 100-yard butterfly, Gomez clocked in at 52.46 seconds and finished 5th. Templeton finished 6th in the A-Final of the 200-yard freestyle in 1:44.43. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Eeckhout posted a time of 58.33 seconds, finishing 3rd overall in the B-Final while
Tyler Moore placed 5th in the C-Final in 1:04.12. In the A-Final of the 200-yard breaststroke, Eeckhout finished 6th overall with a time of 2:07.26.
The 200-yard medley relay team placed 6th overall when they posted a time of 1:36.26. The team was made up of
Chris Lee, Eeckhout, Gomez and Templeton. The 200-yard freestyle relay team also took home 6th place finish and combined for a time of 1:28.56. The team was made up of Templeton, Lee,
Brendan McDevitt and Gomez. In the 100-yard backstroke, McDevitt finished 1st in the C-Final with a time of 52.61 seconds. The 400-yard medley relay team posted a time of 3:35.69 and finished in 7th place. The team was made up of McDevitt, Eeckhout, Gomez and Templeton.
Spencer Hughes placed 16th in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:07.76 while
Michael Sooy clocked in at 17:44.62. McDevitt and
Samuel De Leon finished 5th and 6th respectively in the C-Final of the 200-yard backstroke with times of 1:58.83 and 2:01.31. Templeton placed 5th in the B-Final of the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.57 seconds while Baron and Giovani Alvarez posted times of 2:03.88 and 2:08.45 in the 200-yard butterfly C-Finals.
