Mahwah, NJ: The Stockton University men's basketball team defeated Ramapo College in a NJAC match-up this afternoon at the Bradley Center, 76-72. The Ospreys improve to 6-1 overall, 2-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners stand at 4-3 overall, 1-2 in the conference.
All five starters for the Roadrunners scored in double digits and they were led by
Anthony Corbo with a career high 20 points while he added nine rebounds and two steals.
Jordan Myers posted 13 points while
Peter Gorman collected 11 points and a team high five assists.
Shane Rooney added 11 points and seven rebounds while
Justin Bladen contributed with ten points and two steals. The Roadrunners shot 54.9% (28-51) from the floor, 45.5% (5-11) from the three-point line, and 68.8% (11-16) from the free throw line.
DJ Campbell led Stockton with 27 points in the game and five steals. Kyion Flanders netted 13 points, pulled down six rebounds, and dished out three assists while Martin Anguelov tacked on 11 points. The Osprey's shot 40% (24-60) from the field, 35.7% (10-28) from the three-point line, and 72% (18-25) from the free throw line.
The Roadrunners tied the game with 3:03 left in the first half at 29, after going on a seven point run behind points from Corbo and Myers. The two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the half and headed to the locker room tied at 33. Ramapo held the largest lead of the game with 11:53 to go in the second half behind an and-one play from Rooney, 50-42. The Ospreys went on a 9-0 run over 1:27 of play to regain the lead, capped off by a three-point shot from Kadian Dawkins, 66-61. A three-point shot from Corbo would tie the game at 66 with just over four minutes left to play. Anguelov would score a basket for the Osprey's putting them back on top with 3:43 left to play, 68-66. The Osprey's would hold on to the lead and defeat the Roadrunners 76-72.
The Roadrunners return to action Wednesday, December 7th when they travel to New Jersey City University for an 8:00pm NJAC conference match-up.
