Union, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's swim team competed at the Cougar Invitational this evening hosted by Kean University. The Roadrunners currently sit in first place with 226 points after day one of the meet.
 
Michael Sooy won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:55.98 while Benjamin Gomez won the 50-yard freestyle event in 22.01 seconds. Teammate Jose Swede placed second in the 50-yard free in 22.31 seconds. The 400-yard medley relay team grabbed a first place finish when they clocked in at 3:35.72. The team was made up of Brendan McDevitt, Emile Eeckhout, Gomez and Swede.
 
The 200-yard freestyle relay team finished second overall with a time of 1:29.01. The team was made up of Swede, Alessandro Alvarez, McDevitt and Gomez. Jeff Horn placed third in the 500-yard freestyle race with a time of 5:08.42 while Eeckhout (1:59.06), Sam De Leon (2:01.86) and Caleb Baron (2:04.05) went 2-3-4 in the 200-yard IM.
 
The Cougar Invitational will continue on Saturday, November 19th with two sessions. Session one will begin at 10:30am and session two will start at 5:30pm.
