Union, NJ: The #3 Kean University women's volleyball team advanced in the NJAC Tournament with a 3-1 (25-15, 25-7, 21-25, 25- 13) win over #6 Ramapo College tonight at Hardwood Arena. The Cougars improve to 17-12 overall while the Roadrunners move to 10-10 on year.
Kean, who advances to play at #1 Stockton University on Thursday evening, won the first two sets before Ramapo took set three. The Cougars came back to win the match by winning the fourth set. Ashley Smith led Kean with 15 kills while she added one assist, once ace, one block and seven digs. Taylor Micheaux collected 11 kills, two digs and once ace while Anne Beckemeyer added nine kills, two assists, two digs and two blocks. Aspen O'Brien dished out a match-high 45 assists while she added four kills and two aces. On defense, Sian Seeger posted a team high 18 digs. Kean hit .361 in the match with 55 total kills on 108 attempts and 16 errors.
For the Roadrunners,
Caleigh Golabek posted eight kills and three blocks to lead the team.
Stephanie Ross led the way with ten digs while she added seven kills and one ace.
Riley Stewart posted five kills and two blocks while
Emma Moran led the team with two aces while she contributed with seven digs on defense.
Alexandra Sacchinelli dished out a team high 15 assists while
Katie Bishop posted 12 of her own.
Jenna Stolker added six digs on defense. Ramapo recorded 31 kills on 111 attempts and 26 errors.
