Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against visiting New Jersey City University today at the Athletic Center in NJAC conference action. The Roadrunners now stand at 1-6-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the conference while the Gothic Knights move to 6-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the NJAC.
Ederson La Torre put Ramapo on the board in the 26
th minute of action (25:48) off an assist from
Thiago Stallhbaum for the 1-0 lead. Ramapo led 8-3 in the first half in shots.
In the second half, Maximo Vargas scored his first of two goals in the game to tie the score at 1-1. He posted the goal in the 48
th minute (47:22) during the second half as Nate Russell earned the assist. Vargas put NJCU up 2-1, just over ten minutes later (58:17) with a corner kick from Thiago Duarte.
Damian Zurawski scored his second goal of the year for Ramapo in the 75
th minute (74:59) as
Jake Szatkowski earned the assist as the Roadrunners tied the game, 2-2.
Ramapo held a 20-8 advantage in shots in the game including 12-4 on goal while they also posted an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks in the game. For NJCU, Nick Linebaugh posted ten saves in goal while
Nikolai Matthews recorded two saves in the net for the Roadrunners.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, October 12
th when they host Kean University in a NJAC game at 3pm.
