Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team posted a 3-2 win over rival Kean University this afternoon at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners now stand at 2-6-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the NJAC while the Cougars move to 5-6-3 overall and 1-2-2 in the conference.
Kyle Allen put the Roadrunners on the board with his second goal of the season in the 16th (15:38) minute of action, 1-0.
Damian Zurawski and
Marvin Cadena each earned an assist on the goal. Midway through the first half, Fanor Arango collected his second goal of the year for Kean to tie the game, 1-1 in the 24th minute (23:25).
In the second half, Ramapo took the lead as Zurawski posted his third goal of the season off on a header with the assist from Cadena in the 79th minute (78:31) before
Dorant Bokshi gave the Roadrunners an insurance goal, 3-1 in the 83rd minute (82:50). Erick Chicas scored for the Cougars (85:13) with a goal, his second of the year. The Roadrunners held off the Cougars in the final minutes of the game to secure the NJAC victory, 3-2.
For the game, each team collected 15 shots while Ramapo held an 8-7 lead in shots on goal while the Roadrunners also led in corner kicks, 6-3.
Nikolai Matthews posted five saves in goal for the Ramapo in the win while Dominic Ridge also tallied five for the Cougars.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 15th when they travel to Rowan University for a NJAC game at 7pm.
