Mahwah, NJ: The #11 ranked Kean University field hockey team earned a 4-1 win over Ramapo College today in NJAC action at the Athletic Center. The Cougars move to 12-3 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 10-4 overall, both teams are 2-2 in the conference.
The Cougars, who snapped the Roadrunners three-game win streak, scored an early goal in the first quarter as Peyton Mann collected her team leading 19th goal of the season. Morgan Stump then scored on a penalty stroke in the second quarter before Kelsey Corbett slapped a shot into the back of the net off a pass from Ja'Carra Jackson to extend the lead 3-0. That score would hold until the third quarter when the Roadrunners got on the board.
Allison Tanasy scored her sixth goal of the year with 39:05 on the clock to give Ramapo their lone goal of the game.
Katie Yarussi earned the assist, her first of the season. Corbett put in her second goal of the game for Kean, this time with an assist from M. Stump to extend the Cougar lead, 4-1, with just under three minutes remaining.
For the game, Kean tallied 24 shots including 18 on goal along with 22 penalty corners. The Roadrunners posted 13 shots including seven on goal while they earned eight penalty corners.
Michelle Kukan tallied ten saves for Ramapo in the cage while Jenna Flemmings collected four saves for Kean in just over 46 minutes of action while Belly Reynoso recorded two saves in just over 13 minutes of action.
Ramapo returns to the Athletic Center on Saturday, October 22nd when they host the College of New Jersey at 3pm. The Roadrunners will honor their 2022 senior class in a pre-game ceremony.
