Montclair, NJ: The Montclair State University men's swim team defeated Ramapo College, 158-98, today in NJAC action. The Red Hawks improve to 6-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference while the Roadrunners move to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the NJAC.
Emile Eeckhout won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.03, as he out touched MSU's second place finisher who poste a time of 1:01.49. The 200-yard medley relay team placed 2nd overall with a time of 1:40.88. The team was made up of
Devin Alejado, Eeckhout,
Benjamin Gomez and
Josh Templeton. Eeckhout placed 2nd overall in the 1,000-yard freestyle when he clocked in at 10:37.88 while Templeton grabbed a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.92. Alejado posted a time of 57.32 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke while
Caleb Baron placed 3rd overall in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.69. Gomez and Templeton went 2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 22.59 and 23.50 respectively. Templeton also placed 2nd in the 100-yard freestyle in 51.81 while
Michael Sooy grabbed a 3rd place finish in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:14.88. Baron and Alejado went 1-2 in the 200-yard IM with times of 2:12.21 and 2:14.26 respectively. In the 400-yard freestyle, Ramapo clocked in at 3:29.07 for a first place finish. The team was made up of Gomez,
Spencer Hughes, Sooy and
Brendan McDevitt.
The Roadrunners return to action on Jan. 28th when they travel to William Paterson University for a NJAC meet at 6pm.
