STOCKTON DEFEATS RAMAPO IN NJAC ACTION

Galloway, NJ:  The Stockton University men's basketball team earned a key NJAC victory today over Ramapo College, 71-59. The Ospreys move to 14-3 overall and 9-2 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-11 overall and 3-8 in the NJAC.
 
Stockton used an offensive attack that included ten three-pointers while they shot 82% (23-28) from the free throw line while they were led by DJ Campbell who tallied 21 points in the game. Rynell Lawrence posted 12 points and Kyion Flanders added ten points while Jordan Williams contributed with seven points for the Ospreys. Stockton shot 35% (19-54) from the field and 29% (10-34) from the three-point line.
 
Stockton led from the first basket and stretched their lead to ten in the first six minutes of action, 12-2. They led by 11 with just under nine minutes to play in the first, 21-10, before Ramapo shrunk the lead back down to just six with 5:28 on the clock. A jumper and a three-pointer pushed the lead back to nine before a jumper from Jordan Myers cut the lead to seven with 3:23 on the clock. A mini 6-2 run from Stockton to end the half put them up 35-24 heading into the locker room at halftime.
 
In the second half, Stockton would push their lead to seventeen, 50-33, with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game. A 15-0 run by Ramapo would cut the lead to just two with 7:52 on the clock. The run was started with a jumper from Bryan Joseph before a pair of free throws from Marquise Kindel and a three-pointer from Peter Gorman cut the lead to ten. Joseph sank a free throw before Isaiah Hall and Gorman sank a jumper and a three-pointer before Mansfield Warren capped off the run with a jumper, 48-50. Stockton pushed the lead back to eight before a Warren three-pointer cut the lead back to five with 5:16 on the clock, 53-58. A pair of free throws started a 10-0 run for Stockton as they stretched their lead to 69-54 with less than a minute left to play. The two teams traded baskets before Warren sank a three-pointer for the final points of the game, but it was not enough as Stockton came away with the 71-59 win.
 
Kindel and Warren led the way with 13 points each for the Roadrunners. Kindel added six rebounds and one blocked shot while he was 9-10 from the free throw line. Warren finished 5-11 from the field and 3-6 from the three-point line while he added two assists and one steal. Gorman added 11 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal while he was 3-5 from the three-point line. The Roadrunners shot 37% (18-48) from the field, 50% (7-14) from the three-point line and 76% (16-21) from the free throw line.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 26th when they host Montclair State University for a NJAC game at 7:30pm.
