Wayne, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated William Paterson University, 79-63, tonight in NJAC action. The Roadrunners improve to 4-10 overall and 3-7 in the NJAC while the Pioneers drop to 8-7 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
Peter Gorman led the Roadrunners in tonight's game with a double double of 16 points and a team high 11 rebounds. Gorman also led the team with seven assists while adding three steals.
Jordan Myers and
Marquise Kindel each tallied 17 points to lead the team in scoring while Kindel added eight rebounds and Myers contributed with five rebounds and three assists.
Anthony Corbo posted 13 points including 3-4 from the three-point line while
Shane Rooney added nine points, six rebounds and two assists.
WPU jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first half before Ramapo got on the board with a three-pointer from
Justin Bladen. WPU would push their lead to ten, 19-9 with 12:25 on the clock on a three-pointer from Domenic Mignone before Ramapo went on an 18-6 run. Corbo led the way for Ramapo during the run with ten points including three three-pointers. His final three-pointer of the run tied the game at 25 with 5:24 on the clock before a Kindel jumper gave Ramapo the lead, 27-25 with 4:46 left to play in the first half. A pair of free throws from WPU tied the game at 27 before a jumper from Myers put Ramapo back in the lead. The bucket from Myers started a 10-3 run for Ramapo to end the first half with a seven point lead, 37-30.
In the second half, Ramapo stretched their lead to 16 with a layup from Rooney. WPU then worked the Ramapo lead down to nine, 56-47, with 11:49 left to play before Gorman hit a big three-pointer to regain the double digit lead, 59-47. Gorman sank a jumper with less than eight minutes remaining, putting Ramapo ahead 67-52 before WPU went on a 9-0 run capped off with a pair of free throws from Mignone. The run cut the Ramapo lead to six, 67-61, with 3:53 left to play in the game. Ramapo ended the game on a 12-3 run where Rooney tallied five points, Gorman added four points, Myers posted two and Kindel one.
The Roadrunners out rebounded WPU, 43-21, and forced 18 Pioneer turnovers which led to 19 points for Ramapo. The team shot 56% (31-55) from the field, 50% (5-10) from the three-point line and 52% (12-23) from the free throw line.
Mignone led the Pioneers with 14 points while Brian Monaghan added 12 points and Gilmore posted 11. WPU shot 39% (21-53) from the field, 26% (7-26) from the three-point line and 63% (14-22) from the free throw line.

nd when they travel to Stockton University for a NJAC conference game at 1pm.
