PROFS TOP ROADRUNNERS IN NJAC ACTION

Shane Rooney collects a season high 12 rebounds

Mahwah, NJ:  The Profs of Rowan University defeated the Ramapo College men's basketball team today in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Bradley Center, 80-72.  The Profs improve to 12-3 overall, 5-3 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners stand at 3-9 overall, 2-6 in the NJAC.
 
The Profs took an early seven-point lead in the first four minutes of play before Ramapo's Jordan Myers started a 12 point run.  A layup from Marquise Kindel capped off the run for Ramapo, 12-7, with 13:12 left in the half.  The two teams traded baskets until Marcellus Ross netted back-to-back three-point shots for the Profs, 23-19.  The Roadrunners went on a mini seven point run to retake the lead. In under one minute of action Ramapo regained the lead behind five points from Anthony Corbo and two points from Peter Gorman, 30-24.  Rowan answered back by netting four points, putting them within two of the Roadrunners, 28-30.  A layup from Isaiah Hall with 32 seconds left on the clock would send the Roadrunners into half time with a three-point lead, 33-30.
 
Ramapo opened the second half adding seven points and stretching their lead to 10.  Gorman opened the scoring with a jumper before Myers added three points, a jumper and a free throw and Hall tacked on two for the 40-30 lead. The Profs answered back with Ross netting nine points in 1:25 of play to close the gap, 39-40.  With 13:58 left on the clock Ross sparked a 9-0 run for the Profs capped off by a three-point shot from Josh Wright, 52-47.  Frank Venezia recorded a three-pointer for the Roadrunners with 10:39 on the clock, tying the game at 54. Rowan answered back with another nine point run sparked by three points from Ross, 63-54. The two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the half, with the Profs taking the 80-72 victory. 
 
Ramapo was led by Myers with 19 points and seven rebounds.  Corbo and Gorman both netted 13 points and Shane Rooney tallied a season high 12 rebounds.  The Roadrunners shot 44% (29-66) from the field, 40% (4-10) from the three-point line, and 10-16 (62.5%) from the free throw line. 
 
The Profs were led by Ross who tallied 33 points and five rebounds.  Andrew Seager contributed with 11 points while Seagar and Stretch Hawkins each pulled down seven rebounds.  Rowan shot 40% (27-67) from the field, 33% (13-39) from the three-point line, and 13-18 (72%) from the line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, January 19th at 8pm as they travel to William Paterson University for a NJAC match-up.
