FDU-FLORHAM BATTLES BACK TO DEFEAT RAMAPO IN OT

Madison, NJ: The Fairleigh Dickinson University Florham field hockey team came back to defeat Ramapo College in overtime, 3-2. Each team now stands at 2-1 overall.

Ramapo got on the board first in the game with two goals in the second period. Victoria Docherty put the Roadrunners on the board in the 27th minute (26:57) when the team was awarded a penalty stroke. Docherty hit the back of the cage to put Ramapo up 1-0. She scored her team leading fourth goal of the season in the 30th minute (29:32) to extend the lead 2-0.
 
FDU-Florham saw both of their goals come in the third period. Alexa Zubulake put the Devils on the board (35:05) before Emilee Vizzuso scored just 45 seconds later to tie the game 2-2. Neither team could push a goal across the line in regulation sending the game into overtime. FDU had three chances in the first period and Ramapo goalkeeper Michelle Kukan came up big before time expired as the two teams headed into the second overtime period. The Devils were able to score the game-winner when Vizzuso (72:53) notched her third goal of the season and second of the game off a pass from Haleigh Flukey for the 3-2 victory.
 
Ramapo held an 18-14 advantage in shots, including 10-9 on goal while each team collected 11 penalty corners. Kukan posted six saves for Ramapo while Emily Prachthauser tallied seven saves for FDU-Florham.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, September 10th when they travel to Delaware Valley University for a non-conference game at 5:30 PM.
