Wayne, NJ: The William Paterson University women's soccer team slipped past Ramapo College tonight 2-1 in overtime. The Pioneers improve to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners move to 0-7-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the conference.
WPU's first goal of the game came in the first half (22:21) when Samantha Persaud connected with Daniella LoBue to put WPU on the board. This was Persaud's second goal of the season.
Ramapo tied the game in the 72nd minute when
Lauren Vladyka scored her second goal of the year off a long cross from
Sam Ingannamorte for the 1-1 score. The two teams finished out regulation tied, forcing the game into overtime.
The Pioneers scored the game-winning goal in the 94th minute of action in overtime when Megan Ponce hit the back of the net to give WPU the 2-1 victory in overtime. The goal was assisted by Brianna De La Cruz.
Emma Conlon faced 13 shots in the game and recorded three saves. Erica Hickey faced 15 shots in the game and tallied seven saves for WPU. Ramapo posted 15 shots in the game including eight on goal while WPU collected 13 shots in the game and five on goal.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 2nd when they host Rutgers-Newark University in a NJAC conference game at 3:30pm.
