TOVAR SETS SINGLE SEASON ASSIST RECORD IN 8-1 WIN AT DREW

Docherty leads the team with four goals

Madison, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team exploded for eight goals tonight in an 8-1 win on the road at Drew University.  The Roadrunners improve to 8-2 overall while the Rangers now stand at 2-6 on the year.

Ramapo got on the board in the first two minutes of action when Victoria Docherty tipped in a pass from Lucy MacKenzie for the 1-0 lead. MacKenzie scored her first goal of the season this time the assist coming from Docherty, 2-0. Talitha Joustra collected her fifth goal of the year and first of the game in the 15th minute for a 3-0 score as Tovar and Docherty each earned an assist. Tovar earned her 10th assist of the season, setting a new single season record.
 
Docherty posted her second goal of the game in the 22nd minute as Jesslyn Patricia recorded an assist while Tovar hit the back of the net in the 27th minute as Joustra and Dylan Ghimiray collected an assist. Joustra pushed the Ramapo lead to 6-0 in the 33rd minute as Maggie Farrell and Docherty earned assists. Drew got on the board in the 47th minute of action when Jinah Cappuccino took a pass from Janelle Arch to score her first goal of the season. Docherty scored the final two goals for Ramapo, her team leading 17th of the season, both goals were assisted by M. Farrell.
 
Ramapo recorded 38 shots including 26 on goal while all four of Drew's shots in the game were on goal. The Roadrunners also collected 19 penalty corners while the Rangers tallied two in the game. Bridget Kenny and Olyvia Jackson split time in the cage for Drew as Kenny tallied nine saves and Jackson posted eight. Michelle Kukan and Sam Conrad also split time in the cage for Ramapo while each of them tallied one save.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 2nd at 12pm when they host Stockton University in their first NJAC conference game of the season.
