FIELD HOCKEY DOWNS STOCKTON IN NJAC ACTION

Docherty Ties Goals in a Season Record With Game Tying Goal

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College field hockey team opened up the NJAC season today with a 3-2 win over the Ospreys from Stockton University as Mariah Tovar scored the game winner to secure the victory.  With the victory the Roadrunners improve to 9-2 overall and 1-0 in NJAC play.  The Ospreys fall to 6-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Ramapo would fall behind two goals to none after 34-plus minutes of play before Angela Oskierko got the Roadrunners on the board at 35:39 off an assist from Mariah Tovar on a penalty corner.  Victoria Docherty would tie the record for goals in a season as she tied the game 2-2 with her 18th goal of the year.  The goal came unassisted at 38:51.  With under seven minutes to play (53:20), Tovar collected a pass from Lucy Mackenzie hitting the back of the cage for the game winner.  

Michelle Kukan played the full game for Ramapo and gets the win making two saves.  Kylie Mitchell played 42:59 and made three saves, before Alley Harris came in making two saves and letting up the game winner.

Ramapo out shot the Ospreys 12-7 as corners went even at 11-11.

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, October 5th when they travel to #4 Kean University for a 7:30pm match-up.
