Poughkeepsie, NY: The #16 ranked Vassar College field hockey team defeated Ramapo College tonight 2-0 in non-conference action. Vassar improves to 7-1 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 6-2 on the year.
Hailey Brigger scored her third goal of the season in the 10th minute (9:21) of action on a penalty stroke for the 1-0 lead. Leilani Llamas took a pass from Jaclyn Narleski on a penalty corner play to score the team's second goal of the game, 2-0.
Vassar held a slight 8-7 lead in shots in the game while the Brewers needed to make a defensive save in the game. Ramapo looked to tie the game in the second period in the final thirty seconds of action when a shot by
Maggie Farrell was saved by Vassar's Sophie McGrath.
Sarah Dumaresq tallied two saves for the Brewers while
Michelle Kukan recorded four saves in goal for Ramapo. Vassar posted nine penalty corners in the game to Ramapo's six.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 25th when they travel to Immaculata University for a non-conference game at 1pm.
