Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's cross country team will open the 2021 season on Saturday, September 11th at the Vassar Invitational. The Roadrunners, who did not compete during the 2020 season, won the 2019 NJAC Men's Cross Country Championship.

Justina Cassavell, now in her ninth year as head coach of both cross country and track & field programs, looks for the men's cross country team to have another successful season. "We are looking to defend our title from 2019 and perform well at the NCAA Metro Regional Championship. We have great leadership from our top runners", says Cassavell.
Returning for the Roadrunners this season are: Nick DeMarco, Christopher Andersen, Steven Fiumfreddo, Eduardo Cermeno and Jason Mercado. DeMarco led the team at the NJAC Championships earning a third-place finish (24:59.1) while Andersen placed 8th (25:10.6), Fiumefreddo placed 9th (25:11.8) to round out the Roadrunner Top Ten. Cermeno finished in 28th place (26:09.2) and Mercado placed 36th overall (26:33.6). The team grabbed a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship which ties the highest team placing in program history. Andersen qualified for the NCAA Championship meet and earned NCAA All-Region honors. Coach Cassavell will also look to newcomer Mohammed Nidaazzi to earn points for the Roadrunners this season.
The Roadrunners have four meets on the schedule prior to the 2021 NJAC Championships on October 30th. The Roadrunners will be looking to defend their title as Stockton University will host the meet in Galloway, NJ. Rowan University is hosting the 2021 NCAA Metro Regional meet on November 13th and the NCAA Championships are on November 20th.
