YARUSSI HAT TRICK LEADS RAMAPO OVER CENTENARY

Roadrunners post best start in program history with the 9-0 win

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College field hockey team posted their fourth shutout of the season with a 9-0 blanking of Centenary University today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners, who won their fourth straight game, have posted the best start in program history.
 
Ramapo scored early and often in the first two periods of action. Katie Yarussi earned a hat trick with three straight goals. She scored the first goal (1:06) of the game off a pass from Mariah Tovar while Talitha Joustra earned the assist on the second goal of the first period (3:50). Yarussi would make it 3-0 in favor of the Roadrunners with her third goal in the fifth minute (4:42). Chloe Heller tallied her first goal of the season with nine minutes on the clock as she took a pass from Lucy Mackenzie.
 
Angela Oskierko and Tovar teamed up on Ramapo's fourth goal of the game in the second period, Oskierko's third of the year before Maggie Farrell tacked on a goal in the 20th minute as Mackenzie added her second assist of the game. Dylan Ghimiray extended the Roadrunner lead to 7-0 as Jesslyn Patricia posted the assist in the 21st minute of action. Joustra ripped a shot in the 28th minute, her fourth goal of the year before Victoria Docherty posted her team leading 11th goal of the season off a pass from Yarussi for the 9-0 lead.
 
Ramapo collected 23 shots in the game including 18 on goal while Centenary goalie, Jenyfer Pereira, recorded nine saves in the game. The Roadrunners also recorded all 11 penalty corners. Michelle Kukan and Sam Conrad split time in the cage for Ramapo.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 22nd when they travel to #16 Vassar College for a non-conference game at 5pm.
