Reading, PA: The Ramapo College men's soccer team earned a 2-1 double overtime victory on the road over Penn State University-Berks. The Roadrunners improve to 3-2 overall while the Nittany Lions stand at 0-4-1 on the year.
PSU-Berks got on the board first in the game in the 43rd (42:35) minute when Mark Pirrone collected a pass from Colin Plunkett for a 1-0 lead. Ramapo tallied ten shots in the first half to PSU-Berk's two.
In the second half, Ramapo tied the game as
Brian Kelly took a pass from
Damian Zurawski in the 55th minute (54:11) for the 1-1 score. The score remained tied sending the game into overtime. Ramapo held a 10-7 advantage in shots in the second half. Ramapo posted all five shots in the first overtime period before Kelly became the hero for the Roadrunners in the second overtime period. Kelly buried a goal into the back of the net for the game-winner off a pass from
Osbin Mendez to give Ramapo the road victory, 2-1. For the game, Ramapo held a 25-9 advantage in shots including 10-4 on goal.
Nikolai Matthews earned his first win in the net for the Roadrunners while he collected three saves. For the Nittany Lions, Jose Aparicio made eight saves in the loss.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 18th when they host NJAC rival Rowan University at the Athletic Center Turf Field at 12pm.
