Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team posted a 5-0 shut out win today over West Conn at home. Behind two goals from
Victoria Docherty the Roadrunners improve to 5-1 overall on the year. West Conn falls to .500 at 2-2.
Docherty would score just over three minutes into the game on an unassisted blast to put Ramapo on the board, before
Maggie Farrell hit the back of the cage off an assist from
Mariah Tovar to lead 2-0 at 16:28. Role's reversed as Farrell laid the ball off to Tovar at 21:21 to head into half time with the 3-0 advantage.
In the half, Ramapo led in shots, 7-1 and
Michelle Kukan went untested for Ramapo in goal. Kayla Hnasko made two saves for West Conn.
Docherty struck again at the 32:16 minute mark off an assist from
Talitha Joustra and
Katie Yarussi would wrap up the scoring with a goal of her own off a dish from Tovar to take the 5-0 win.
Ramapo again led in shots, 11-1 with Kukan and
Sam Conrad again went untested for the Roadrunners in the cage. Alyssa Manocchi took over goalkeeping duties for West Conn in the second half and made six saves.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, September 18
th when they host Centenary College at 3:30pm.
