Mahwah, NJ: The Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team slipped past Ramapo College today in non-conference action, 1-0 in overtime. WestConn moves to 4-1 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 2-2 overall.
WestConn scored the game-winner just 22 seconds into the overtime period when Lorenzo Lauria hit the back of the net. Lauria collected the ball in front of the net and scored his second goal of the season to give WestConn the win. The team held a 17-14 advantage in shots and 9-6 on goal. WestConn recorded five corner kicks to Ramapo's four.
Joshua Schaffer posted eight saves for Ramapo in the game while Daniel Szabo collected six for WestConn.
Ramapo will return to action on Wednesday, September 15th when they travel to Penn State University – Berks for a non-conference game at 4pm.
