Farmingdale, NY: The Ramapo College men's soccer team opened the 2021 season with a 2-0 road win over SUNY Old Westbury (0-1 overall).
Although Ramapo recorded a 13-2 advantage in shots in the first half, the Roadrunners broke a 0-0 tie in the second when
Jake Szatkowski scored to put Ramapo up 1-0. Szatkowski recorded his first goal of his career (54:14) off a pass from
Massimo Gallorini. Massimo would hit the back of the net in the 62nd minute (61:18) off an assist from
Thiago Stallhbaum to push the lead, 2-0.
Ramapo recorded 33 shots to Old Westbury's four while the Roadrunners collected all 10 corner kicks in the game.
Joshua Schaffer collected two saves for Ramapo, including a diving save in the 38th minute of action. James Perciballi recorded eight saves for the Panthers.
The Roadrunners (1-0 overall) return to action on Saturday, September 4th when they travel to non-conference rival Misericordia University for a 3:30pm game.
