Union, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team dropped a tough NJAC double-header match-up today to Kean University, 2-3 and 0-10. With the two losses the Roadrunners fall to 7-13 overall and 7-11 in the NJAC. Kean improves to 21-7 overall and 11-7 in conference play.
Game 1: The Cougars came out on top in game one, 3-2 over Ramapo as Taryn DiGiacomo earned the win to improve to 10-4 overall. She pitched the complete game striking out six and walking none. She let up seven hits.
Mahogany Wheeler takes the loss falling to 5-6. She struck out three in the game and walked two. She let up ten hits.
Ramapo got on the board first in the 6
th inning as Wheeler doubled to right field to drive home
Carli Egan. Wheeler would score on a single from
Thu Deo to lead 2-0. The Cougars tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Jenn Majorczak scored on an error and Paige Metz drove in Gabriella Fredette. Kean would take the game in the 7
th as Fredette singled to left center bringing in DiGiacomo.
Majorczak hit 2-3 with one run scored and DiGiacomo went 2-4 with a run of her own. Egan scored a run for Ramapo hitting 1-4 and Wheeler went 1-3 scoring one and driving in one.
Game 2: Heather Clevenger pitched 5.2 innings for the Cougars and earns the win as she struck out four and walked none. She let up two hits on the day.
Megan Giesecke takes the loss as she falls to 2-7 overall. She let up 12 hits and ten runs in 5.2 innings of work.
The Cougars quickly got on the board in the 2
nd inning with a two-run home run from Skylar Hengeveld which scored Metz. Kean never looked back scattering an additional eight runs across two innings to down the Roadrunners, 10-0. Hengeveld and Gianna Pickens each hit 2-4 with one run and three RBI. For Ramapo, Egan hit 2-2.
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, May 4
th for the opening round of the NJAC Championship Tournament. Seedings, opponents and game times TBA.
