RAMAPO AND OSPREYS SPLIT IN NJAC ACTION

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College softball team split a NJAC double-header with the Ospreys of Stockton University today as Ramapo took ghame one, 5-3 and Stockton took the second, 14-3.  WIth the split, Ramapo stands at 5-11 overall and 5-9 in the NJAC.  Stockton stands at 6-14 overall and 6-10 in conference play.
 
Game 1:  The Roadrunners defeated the Ospreys 5-3 in game one as Mahogany Wheeler pitched the complete game, striking out three and walking one to improve to 3-5 overall on the year.  Marissa Semeraro gets the loss for the Ospreys.  She pitched three innings and let up four runs, all earned.  She struck out one and falls to 3-5 on the year.
 
The Ospreys would get on the board first in the game in the 1st inning Angie Dunphy doubled to left field to drive home Lilly James.  The Roadrunners would tie the game in the bottom of the inning when Carli Egan scored on a single to center from Avery Bartolomeo.  Ramapo took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd when Egan crossed the plate again on another Bartolomeo RBI.  In the 4th, Egan would ground out which drove home Melody Gleason and Wheeler would single bringing home Jaclyn Monaco to lead, 4-1.  Monaco added insurance in the 6th and Stockton would threaten in the top of the 7th with a two-run home run from James.  It wasn't enough as Wheeler closed out the Ospreys for the win.  
 
Bartolomeo went 2-3 with two RBI and Egan hit 1-4 with one RBI and two runs scored.  Monaco hit a perfect 2-2 in the win with two runs scored.
 
In game two, the Ospreys scattered 14 runs across five innings to defeat Ramapo, 14-3.  Samantha McErlane was pitching a no-hitter until the 5th when Krista Verrino singled to load the bases.  Monaco would cross home plate and Wheeler doubled to score Egan and Verrino but it wasn't enough as McErlane got the win over Ramapo.
 
McErlane pitched all five innings striking out two and walking two.  She improves to 2-4 on the year.  Megan Giesecke gets the loss for Ramapo and falls to 2-6.  She struck out one and walked four.  
 
Verrino went 1-2 with one run scored while Egan drove in one.  Wheeler hit 1-1 with two RBI.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday, April 27th when they travel to NJCU for a double header at 3pm.
