BASEBALL SPLITS WITH TCNJ IN NJAC ACTION

Ewing, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team traveled to The College of New Jersey today for a NJAC double-header match-up as the two teams split the day.  TCNJ took game one 5-4 and Ramapo would deliver in game two for the 8-1 win.  Ramapo now stands at 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the conference while TCNJ stands at 3-8 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
 
The Roadrunners would get on the board first in game one as Justin Garthaffn singled to center field driving home Matt Carovillano and Brian Baranok in the 4th inning.  The Lions would tie the game in the 6th with runs from Chris Cote and Jack Haynes.  In the 7th, TCNJ crossed two more runs from Haynes and Aydon Chavis to go ahead 4-2.  Garthaffn would rip a single to center field in the top of the 8th which would bring home Kyle Buser and Kellen Hardy to tie the game at 4-4.
 
With bases loaded in the bottom of the inning, Chavis singled to center field driving home Sible to take a 5-4 lead for the Lions.  The Lions held the Roadrunners in the top of the 9th to take game one, 5-4 over Ramapo.
 
Brian Baranok went 2-5 on the day with two runs scored and Garthaffn hit 3-4 with four RBI.  Jeff Millet took the loss for Ramapo as he struck out one in one inning pitched.  Jarod Abram pitched the first four innings for Ramapo as he struck out two and walked none.  He let up five hits.
 
In game two, the Roadrunners earned an 8-0 shut out as they went up 3-0 in the 4th inning with runs from Carovillano and Hardy after Sean Donaghue ripped a single to right field to drive both home cross the plate.  Garthaffn reached on a throwing error by the short stop to add another, taking a three-run lead heading into the bottom of the inning.  
 
The 6th inning was big for Ramapo as they added two additional insurance runs to lead 5-0.  Carovillano drove in Hardy with a double to right center and Donaghue doubled down the left field line to score Carovillano.  Garthaffn would drive a home run over the left field fence to go up 6-0 in the 6th before Donaghue scored on a sac fly from Bryan Franko to lead 7-0.  Ramapo tacked on an eighth run from TJ Roman as Will Egner grounded out in the 8th to bring the run in. 
 
Justin Grippo closed out the bottom of the inning from the mound to close out TCNJ for the 8-1 victory.  Donaghue hit 3-4 in the game with one run and three RBI while Garthaffner went 1-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.  Jared Haag gets the win for Ramapo pitching three innings and letting up just one hit.  
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, April 15th as they travel to Kean University for a 3:30pm match-up.
